They will apply learner-centered teaching principles to engage and inspire students, encouraging active participation throughout the educational experience. Adjunct Faculty are also responsible for evaluating student performance, maintaining accurate and timely records, and ensuring the completion of attendance verifications, academic progress reports, and final course grades.</p> <p>Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Additional related duties may be assigned.</p> <ul> <li>Deliver instruction for a range of developmental mathematics courses, ensuring content is accessible and engaging. </li><li>Utilize Rock Valley College's designated Learning Management System (LMS) for grading, assignments, student communication, and record-keeping. </li><li>Develop and organize course content, assigning relevant coursework that aligns with learning objectives. </li><li>Select and implement appropriate textbooks and teaching materials, while adhering to scheduled class times. </li><li>Offer availability for student interaction, including at least one hour of office hours weekly per 3-credit hour course. </li><li>Maintain and manage necessary instructional materials and equipment, as needed. </li><li>Participate in the assessment of student learning and progress to enhance course effectiveness. </li><li>Accurately track and maintain student records, assess student performance, and submit grades in a timely manner. </li><li>Prepare and submit required reports regarding course/class performance as requested. </li><li>Attend required faculty, division, and in-service training meetings to stay aligned with departmental and institutional goals. </li><li>Stay current with the latest research, journals, and best practices in the field of developmental mathematics. </li><li>Adhere to all applicable policies, including the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), as well as other relevant laws and regulations governing higher education at Rock Valley College. </li><li>Commit to the community college mission </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.</p> <p>Minimum Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, or a closely related discipline and at least 15 graduate hours in Mathematics, Statistics, or Mathematics Education. </li><li>Competency in technologies commonly used in college-level instruction (canvas & zoom). </li><li>Experience teaching face-to-face, hybrid, and online. </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Master's degree in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, or a closely related discipline and at least 18 graduate hours in Mathematics, Statistics, or Mathematics Education OR Master's degree in Education and at least 18 graduate hours in Mathematics, Statistics, or Mathematics Education with a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, or a closely related discipline. </li><li>Teaching experience in college-level courses is preferred. </li><li>Interest in involvement in division and college initiatives. </li></ul> <p>Work Environment</p> <p>While performing the duties of this job, the employee works indoors.</p> <p>Physical Demands</p> <p>Physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job:</p> <p>While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle, feel, or operate objects, tools or controls, and reach with hands and arms.
