<p>Job Title: Full-Time Faculty - Fine Arts</p> <p>Location: Indianapolis campus</p> <p>Department: Fine Arts</p> <p>Job Type: Full-Time</p> <p>Starting Salary Range: $42,000 - $46,000</p> <p>Classification: F-2</p> <p>Reports To: Program Chair/Assistant Professor of Fine Arts</p> <p>Position Overview</p> <p>Ivy Tech Community College invites applications for a full-time teaching position in Fine Arts. The ideal candidate will have a background in foundation level visual art instruction, with a strong focus in three-dimensional design applications, and a background in arts administration or management. They will be well-versed in contemporary and historic art and design practices. A strong desire to help students explore and grow their skills as artists and designers in traditional and contemporary art mediums is expected. An understanding of creative entrepreneurship and business practices appropriate to visual arts is desirable. Candidates must be willing to work within a learning community that is diverse and welcoming.</p> <p>General Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Collaborate with the Program Chair to develop and manage internal and external projects and programs. </li><li>Teach a 4/4 course load (24 credit hours per academic year) in Fine Arts, focusing on foundational and 3D design courses. </li><li>Mentor and support adjunct faculty, part-time assistants, and work-study students. </li><li>Engage in recruitment and retention activities to promote the program. </li><li>Maintain an active professional art practice, including creating and exhibiting work. </li><li>Serve on college and departmental committees. </li><li>Advise the campus Art Club and support student-led initiatives. </li><li>Support program initiatives such as gallery exhibitions, community outreach, and special events. </li></ul> <p>Key Duties</p> <p>Instruction</p> <ul> <li>Deliver high-quality instruction aligned with course objectives and learning outcomes. </li><li>Develop and maintain engaging course materials, including syllabi, lesson plans, and assignments. </li><li>Foster a safe and collaborative learning environment, ensuring proper use and maintenance of studio spaces, tools, and equipment. </li></ul> <p>Professional Development</p> <ul> <li>Participate in ongoing professional development, such as workshops, conferences, and training to remain current in 3D design and fine arts practices. </li></ul> <p>Community Engagement</p> <ul> <li>Represent the college through community events, exhibitions, and partnerships to strengthen ties with local arts organizations and stakeholders. </li><li>Develop community/industry contacts </li></ul> <p>Institutional Support</p> <ul> <li>Contribute to curriculum development and accreditation processes. </li><li>Participate in college-wide events such as commencement and faculty meetings. </li><li>Assist in program management activities, including ordering supplies and managing studio and gallery spaces. </li></ul> <p>Advising and Mentorship</p> <ul> <li>Provide academic advising to Fine Arts students and support them in developing their professional and creative goals. </li></ul> <p>The above list of duties is not to be construed as an exhaustive list. Other duties logically associated with the position may be assigned.</p> <p>Required Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Possesses an earned bachelor or higher degree in fine arts, or related field, from a regionally accredited institution; preferred to have a Master of Fine Arts or Master of Arts in Fine Arts Studio; and </li><li>Two of the following: </li><li>A portfolio demonstrating significant involvement as a practicing artist or designer. </li><li>Professional certification in the field. </li><li>At least three years of directly related work and exhibition experience. </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Master of Fine Arts (MFA) or Master of Arts in Fine Arts Studio. </li><li>College-level teaching experience in visual arts, with a focus on 3D art and design. </li><li>Proven arts administrative experience, including program coordination and development, event organization, gallery management, etc. </li><li>Expertise in 3D processes, materials, and tools. </li><li>Proficiency in current technologies and software relevant to fine arts instruction, such as Adobe Creative Suite, 3D modeling software, and audio/video tools. </li></ul> <p>Application Materials</p> <p>Interested applicants should submit the following materials:</p> <p>Letter of Application outlining relevant experience and teaching philosophy.</p> <p>Curriculum Vitae detailing academic and professional accomplishments.</p> <p>Digital Portfolio (single PDF format) including:</p> <ul> <li>Artist Statement </li><li>Ten images of personal work. </li><li>Statement of Teaching Philosophy </li><li>Ten images of student work. </li><li>Detailed captions and descriptions for each image. </li></ul> <p>Additional Summer contracts and overload contracts are available.
