<p>Our Opportunity:</p> <p>Chewy's Sponsored Ads business is expanding rapidly, and we're seeking a skilled Staff Front-End Engineer to help shape the future of our ad platform. In this role, you'll drive iterative development, mentor junior engineers, and contribute to the growth of one of Chewy's fastest-growing revenue streams.</p> <p>About You:</p> <p>As an experienced Software Engineer with a background in frontend development, you excel in using TypeScript, React, NodeJS, and Express. You have expertise in CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins), cloud environments (AWS), and authentication services. Experience with backend services and technologies like Java, Kotlin, Kafka, and both SQL/NoSQL databases is a plus.</p> <p>Your hands-on experience and track record ensure you can build and ship new applications or features to existing applications, quickly and efficiently.</p> <p>About the Team:</p> <p>Launched in 2022, Chewy's Sponsored Ads platform enables vendors to promote their products on-site and offsite, significantly contributing to Chewy's revenue growth. The team manages both customer-facing and vendor-facing experiences, balancing a startup culture with operational excellence. We are based in Boston and Seattle.</p> <p>What You'll Do:</p> <ul> <li>Be responsible for delivering projects, designing systems, and mentoring junior engineers. </li><li>Design, develop and implement solutions using varied technologies focusing on scalability, latency, and resiliency. </li><li>Own team estimation process and deliver according to the estimates. </li><li>Perform code reviews and provide meaningful feedback to other engineers on the team. </li><li>Apply DevOps practices to minimize technical debt and improve release cycles. </li><li>Participate in user research to understand customer needs and enhance our ad platform. </li><li>Establish strong working relationships at all organizational levels and across functional teams. </li></ul> <p>What You'll Need:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience). </li><li>10+ years of experience as a Software Engineer, focusing on modern JavaScript/TypeScript frameworks (React). </li><li>Proven experience building scalable, highly available systems. </li><li>Ninja coding and debugging skills </li><li>Passion for metrics and data-driven decision making. </li><li>Knowledge of professional software engineering practices including coding standards, code reviews, source control, build processes, testing, and operations </li><li>Solid understanding of CS fundamentals: object-oriented design, algorithms, and problem-solving </li><li>Excellent verbal and written communication skills. </li></ul> <p>Bonus:</p> <ul> <li>Experience in Ad Tech and/or e-commerce. </li><li>Experience with Scrum, XP or other agile methodologies. </li><li>Familiarity with AWS. </li></ul>
