<p>The Commissioned School Security Officer (CSSO) is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for students, staff, and visitors across the school district. This role includes campus supervision, access control, emergency response, and supporting daily school operations. The CSSO will be required to conceal carry a handgun and complete all certification training as mandated by the State of Arkansas.</p> <p>Essential Duties and Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Security & Safety:</p> </li><li> <p>Patrol school grounds and buildings to ensure a safe and secure environment.</p> </li><li> <p>Monitor security cameras and respond to incidents as needed.</p> </li><li> <p>Enforce school district policies and state laws related to school security.</p> </li><li> <p>Assist in emergency preparedness planning and response.</p> </li><li> <p>Supervision & Support:</p> </li><li> <p>Assist with student supervision during lunch, recess, and other transition times.</p> </li><li> <p>Support staff in managing student behavior and ensuring campus safety.</p> </li><li> <p>Help with student drop-off and pick-up to maintain orderly traffic flow.</p> </li><li> <p>Administrative Assistance:</p> </li><li> <p>Assist office staff with parent check-in and student check-out procedures.</p> </li><li> <p>Verify visitor credentials and ensure proper access control.</p> </li><li> <p>Provide security presence during school events and extracurricular activities.</p> </li><li> <p>Other Duties:</p> </li><li> <p>Perform additional tasks as assigned by the principal or district administration.</p> </li><li> <p>Collaborate with school resource officers, local law enforcement, and emergency personnel when necessary.</p> </li></ul> <p>Qualifications & Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>Must hold a valid Commissioned School Security Officer (CSSO) licensethrough the Arkansas State Police. </li><li>Must complete required firearms training and maintain certification. </li><li>Prior law enforcement, military, or security experience preferred. </li><li>Strong interpersonal and communication skills for working with students, staff, and the public. </li><li>Ability to remain calm and effective in emergency situations. </li></ul> <p>Work Environment & Physical Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>Must be able to stand, walk, and patrol campus for extended periods. </li><li>May be required to respond quickly to emergencies or physically intervene when necessary. </li><li>Exposure to outdoor weather conditions during school supervision duties. </li></ul>
