<p>Job Opening: Autopsy Technician - Part Time</p> <p>Department: Medical Examiner</p> <p>Posting Date: April 23, 2025</p> <p>Salary: $36,873.20 Annually / $20.26 per Hourly</p> <p>Summary</p> <p>The Autopsy Technician prepares for autopsies and the dissection of bodies, including evisceration and removal of the brain, separation of organ blocks and special dissection techniques, sterilizing/disinfecting instruments, setting up equipment and supplies, and preparing specimens, as directed.</p> <p>Essential Duties</p> <p>Under the general supervision of the Chief of Forensic Investigations:</p> <p>Weigh and measure human remains.</p> <p>Photograph organs and prepare toxicology samples, blood, urine, and vitreous fluids.</p> <p>Draw biological fluid samples.</p> <p>Maintain confidentiality of information on all cases; abides by HIPAA Rules.</p> <p>Maintain the safety and cleanliness of the morgue and its associated equipment.</p> <p>Assist forensic pathologists with autopsies, weight descendants, weighing organs, sewing up bodies, proper packaging, and labeling of evidence to preserve the chain of custody evidence.</p> <p>Contacting funeral homes regarding the release and picking up of decedents.</p> <p>Performs other job-related duties as assigned.</p> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>Minimum of an associate degree, EMT or nursing degree, may be able to substitute experience for a degree.</p> <p>Bachelor's Degree Preferred.</p> <p>2 years of experience in a medical field such as nursing, surgical technology or experience working with autopsy procedures and practices, including evisceration.</p> <p>Knowledge of anatomy and medical terminology required.</p> <p>Ability to handle foul odors.</p> <p>Must be able to work any shift as necessary in a 24-hour period, including weekends and holidays.</p> <p>Strong writing and oral communication skills.</p> <p>Contact</p> <p>To apply, please go to Neo.gov.</p>
