<p>Responsible for designing structural construction assembly models; designing street lighting using modeling software, deploying energy efficient technologies to comply with city ordinances; developing work orders for distribution expansion and improvements to electric distribution system and design standards by performing the following duties.</p> <p>include the following. Regular and predictable attendance and punctuality are essential functions of this position.</p> <p>Electrical Distribution System: Responsible for the design of structural construction assembly models using software like PLS-CADD or SPIDACalc, the engineering of distribution improvements to existing systems and new customers using Partner Staking and AutoCAD computer-aided drafting software supported by the Milsoft WindMilMap GIS, and is involved in project management, system planning, and utility relocations to accomplish those tasks. </p> <p>Communication: Works directly with developers, builders, contractors and customers to determine service needs and requirements; meets with construction crews when problems arise on changes need to be made.</p> <p>Work Order Support: Aids in developing new standards, AutoCAD drawings, and implementing the changes in the Partner Web admin interface as well as NISC's assembly unit and material inventor databases to support the engineering and GIS staff. </p> <p>Field Data: Performs on-site surveys of distribution projects using standard surveying equipment; Obtains and downloads field data with GPS unit.</p> <p>Operates SCADA System: Assists others by gathering relevant data and monitoring system; serves as an Outage Assistant during power distribution emergency situations; responds to emergency call at any time to operate SCADA and outage management system or provide other assistance as needed during emergency status.</p> <p>To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.</p> <p> </p> <p>B.S. degree in electrical, mechanical, or general engineering OR an associate degree in electrical or mechanical engineering technology with 4 years of electrical distribution experience. Applicants must possess required degree prior to employment. </p> <p>A Class D driver's license and good driving record are required and must be maintained throughout employment.</p> <p>The complexity, guidelines, supervisory controls, and supervision responsibilities described below are representative of this position.</p> <p> </p> <p>SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:</p> <p>The employee will assist in the training of Distribution Designer I and II positions in the use of AUTO-CAD and SCADA system, engineering analytics and GIS interface models, and other areas of the job. The employee will serve as Distribution Design Supervisor in his/her absence. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the City's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include assisting in interviewing and training employees, planning, assigning and directing work, and approving leave during the absence of the Distribution Design Supervisor.</p> <p> </p> <p>COMPLEXITY:</p> <p>The work includes various duties involving different and unrelated processes and methods; the decision regarding what needs to be done depends upon the analysis of the subject, phase, or issues involved in each assignment, and the chosen course of action may have to be selected from many alternatives; the work involves conditions and elements that must be identified and analyzed to discern interrelationships. </p> <p> </p> <p>GUIDELINES:</p> <p>Guidelines and standards are available, the employee follows the standard as closely as possible, however judgment in interpreting and adapting guidelines is required; the employee analyzes results and recommends changes.</p> <p> </p>
