<p>Job Description:</p> <p>Siena College is accepting applications for an adjunct instructor to teach a cross-listed undergraduate and graduate Fall 2025 world language education methods course: EDUC481 Instructional Theory and Practice in Inclusive Classrooms - World Language (undergraduate level) and EDUC513 Curriculum and Methods of Teaching World Language (graduate level). This course is required for all teacher education students pursuing certification in adolescence world language education.</p> <p>The course will be offered in the Fall 2025 semester on Tuesdays from 5:00-8:00 pm.</p> <p>EDUC 481: Instructional Theory and Practice (World Language). This course, which considers the theory and practice of effective instructional practices in diverse classrooms, will focus on the components of instruction and will be practice-oriented and performance-based. Additionally, this course provides prospective teachers with a framework to help them reflect on and improve their student teaching experience. Consequently, students will study Danielson's Framework for Teaching and use it to analyze their success within the four domains of planning and preparation, classroom environment, instruction, and professional responsibilities. Emphasis will be given to the understanding and application of the New York State Student Learning Standards in inclusive subject area classrooms. Such topics as unit planning and lesson planning, motivation, inclusion, diversity, teacher expectations, questioning skills, feedback strategies, methodology, technologies, and evaluation and assessment will be studied. The prospective teacher will develop and practice behaviors and strategies characteristic of effective teaching. Attention will be given to ways to place middle and high school students in more active roles as learners. Students pursuing Siena's teacher certification program will be required to successfully complete a forty-hour field experience in inclusive classrooms at the secondary level (grades 7-12).</p> <p>EDUC 513 Curriculum and Methods of Teaching World Language: The goal of the methods course serves to discover the answer to the following question: As teachers, how can we produce dynamic units, lessons, activities, and assessments for our diverse, twenty-first-century learners that show them what it means to think as they engage in our discipline? This course will develop the skills necessary to create an effective, meaningful curriculum that elicits student curiosity, deepens understanding of disciplinary concepts and literacy, and engages adolescents in learning. The course goal is to help novice teachers work towards proficiency in lesson design, instructional delivery, and assessment that meets the needs of all learners.</p> <p>For more information about the Education Programs at Siena College, visit our website:</p> <p>https://www.siena.edu/departments/education/</p> <p>Salary $1,333.34 per contact hour</p> <p>The hiring salary above represent the College's good faith estimate at the time of posting in compliance with the Albany County Salary Transparency Law.</p> <p>Requirements:</p> <p>Candidates should have a minimum of a Master's Degree in Education or related field and exhibit a commitment to undergraduate and graduate liberal arts education. Demonstrated knowledge of New York State and national world language learning standards required.
