<p>We are seeking Professional Tutors for our Student Support Services (SSS) STEM and Health Sciences Program. The tutors should have strong interpersonal and communication skills to support participants in the programs. The primary responsibilities of a tutor are to support students (tutees) to become more independent learners, persist in college, and reach their goals. Tutors provide individual and/or group tutoring to students across a broad range of courses based on their personal area of expertise. This is a part-time, hourly position.</p> <p>The subject areas we are looking for are Writing (includes Reading, Grammar, Pronunciation), Math, and Science.</p> <p>Example of Duties:</p> <ul> <li>Facilitate and/or help write curriculum for workshops, programs, or lab sessions </li><li>Provide subject-specific content to help students in understanding key concepts to improve academic performance </li><li>Participate in monthly SSS-STEM & HS Staff Meetings and professional development activities to improve tutorial skills </li><li>Assist students with homework, projects, test preparation, papers, research and other academic tasks </li><li>Make appropriate referrals to other campus and community resources as needed </li><li>Accurately report and document interactions with tutees using Blumen, the internal record keeping system </li><li>Perform other duties as assigned </li></ul> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Have a B+ or higher in the course(s) providing tutoring in and a GPA of 3.0 or above. </li><li>Required Bachelor's Degree or higher </li><li>Provide transcript (undergraduate and graduate, if applicable) </li><li>Degree is preferred in the subject area </li></ul> <p>The completion of a background check will be required for the selected candidate.</p> <p>Compensation: Compensation is determined by a variety of criteria, including but not limited to, previous relevant experience, education level, and certifications. The hourly pay range for this position is $16-$22, depending upon highest educational degree obtained.</p> <p>Benefits:</p> <ul> <li>New Jersey Sick Leave: Earn 1 hour of sick leave for every 30 hours worked with a maximum of 40 hours of leave per benefit year. (Eligible to use after successful completion of probationary period.) </li><li>Employee Assistance Program provides free, confidential, limited counseling services, work-life assistance, legal and financial guidance. </li><li>Commuter Benefits: Free parking access is provided on site.
