<p>Req Id: 36262</p> <p>Job Title: Utilities Mechanical Engineer</p> <p>City: West Lafayette</p> <p>Job Description:</p> <p>Job Summary</p> <p>The Associate Mechanical Engineer (P1) is a technical resource for the generation and distribution of utilities from a central plant to campus buildings. You will provide engineering judgment and recommendations on mechanical and controls engineering issues to support Wade Utility Plant and Utilities Distribution. Create, update, and maintain engineering drawings and documents. Develop utility projects including justification and scope creation. Assist with material take-offs and cost estimating for future projects. Provide oversight for in-house utilities design and project work including construction, startup, and commissioning. Provide project engineering support through design review, communication of design standards, and assistance with construction issue resolution. Provide technical troubleshooting support as well as planning and coordination of operations, maintenance, replacement, and expansion of utilities systems. This position will serve as individual contributor for developing, maintaining, and communicating chilled water, steam, and potable water distribution design standards for Utilities Operations.</p> <p>The Mechanical Engineer (P2) will provide engineering support to maintenance and operations of the Wade Utility Plant. Review and evaluate engineering designs, new products, equipment, services, and technologies. This position will also provide technical assistance and guidance in problem solving, troubleshooting, and resolutions to problems in support of Heat and Power, Utilities Operations, and other Physical Facilities staff. Manage and coordinate stewardship projects in support of Energy & Utilities departments to include system and equipment outages. Contribute to selection and procurement process for owner furnished major equipment for utilities related projects. Perform investigations of various Power Plant systems, obtain baseline performance data, and determine optimum operating conditions. Recommend improvements to Wade equipment and operations. Plan, develop, and implement projects. Redline existing drawings and prepare specifications for Power Plant, Physical Plant, and Contractors. Contract and communicate with vendors to obtain information and services for Wade Power Plant equipment. This position will also assist operations manager and supervision to revise existing and create new operating procedures for plant systems. Contribute to utilities master planning, including condition assessments and system modeling. Coordinate maintenance, replacement, and expansion of utilities systems, and provide engineering judgment and recommendations. The Mechanical Engineer (P2) will be responsible for training power plant personnel on system optimization.</p> <p>This is a dual level posting where the hiring manager will determine the level commensurate with the education and experience of the chosen candidate.</p> <p>What We're Looking For:</p> <p>Education and Experience Needed:</p> <p>For the Associate level (P1) Mechanical Engineer you will need the following:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field required, Mechanical Engineering preferred. Professional engineer license preferred </li><li>Two (2) years of experience in a utilities or related position.
