<p>Position Overview</p> <p>The Department of Speech, Language and Hearing Sciences in the College of Communication at Butler University invites applications for a nine-month senior lecturer to develop and lead an online graduate program in Deaf Education, modeled after the successful program at Fontbonne University. This is a three-year appointment, which may be renewable based on the performance and viability of the program. The position is nine-months, with a stipend for summer work on the program. During the first year the incumbent will work to develop the curriculum and shepherd it through the university approval processes. In subsequent years there will be a 3-2 teaching load for the position. There will also be departmental service and professional activity expectations with the position.</p> <p>Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>PhD in Speech and Hearing Science or a related field. </li><li>Experience in program development and administration. </li><li>Proven success in securing federal grants and private philanthropic funding. </li><li>Strong background in external partnerships and community engagement. </li><li>Ability to develop and maintain global partnerships to enhance program relevancy. </li><li>Demonstrated success in student recruitment, advising, and mentorship. </li><li>Expertise in listening and spoken language development for children who are deaf and hard of hearing. </li><li>Commitment to excellence in teaching, scholarship, and service. </li><li>Experience navigating accreditation requirements </li></ul> <p>Key Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li> <p>Participation in Department and College meetings using remote technology or campus visits</p> </li><li> <p>Program leadership and administration of the Deaf Education graduate program</p> </li><li> <p>Curriculum development and approval</p> </li><li> <p>Budget management</p> </li><li> <p>Instructor recruitment and training</p> </li><li> <p>Course development and instruction with a 3-2 teaching load after year one</p> </li><li> <p>Student recruitment, advising, and mentoring</p> </li><li> <p>Grant writing and securing external funding</p> </li><li> <p>Building partnerships with schools, clinics, philanthropic organizations, and global initiatives</p> </li><li> <p>Collaborating with faculty and university leadership on program growth and innovation</p> </li><li> <p>Participating in service to the department and profession</p> </li></ul> <p>To apply, candidates must submit through the online portal:</p> <ul> <li>A letter of application outlining qualifications </li><li>Curriculum vitae </li><li>Contact information for three references, at least two of whom who can speak to your </li></ul> <p>Review of applications will begin March 17, 2025 and continue until the position is filled. Consideration will only be given to complete applications.</p> <p>About the College of Communication:</p> <p>The College of Communication enrolls approximately 550 students across its 8 majors and online graduate program in Strategic Communication. CCOM is a dynamic and forward-thinking college that seeks to create an inclusive learning environment with a student-focused approach. Lecturers in the College have a typical teaching load of 4 courses per semester with an expectation for creative/professional activities; however, this position will have a teaching load of 2/2 for the Fall 2025 semester along with responsibility for managing the BSOL Program.
