You will assist your fellow Techs in preparing specimens for analysis, working together to ensure all tasks are completed on time and efficiently. This position is a great steppingstone to others within the Cleveland Clinic system and offers opportunities to gain hands-on experience with the latest technologies.</p> <p>A caregiver in this position works nights from 11:00PM - 7:30AM.</p> <p>A caregiver who excels in this role will:</p> <ul> <li>Process routine and start laboratory tests. </li><li>Perform specimen investigation procedures to resolve lab specimen issues or problems. </li><li>Assist with preparing specimens to be analyzed. </li><li>Evaluate validity of test results using quality control standards, instrumentation function checks and/or department policies and procedures. </li><li>Bring problems to the attention of supervisor or lead medical technologist. </li><li>Initiate appropriate corrective action to alleviate any deficiencies of quality assurance standards or established specified limits. </li><li>Consistently coordinate all work with co-workers to achieve maximum productivity and efficiency during the assigned shift. </li><li>Perform and document preventive maintenance measures on department's equipment and instruments. </li><li>Provide general training to Medical Technology Students and others in training and orientation. </li><li>Assist in compiling various data, statistics and reports. </li><li>Complete all mandatory in-service programs required within the stated time frame. </li><li>Coordinate prioritization, receipt and delivery of laboratory specimens. </li><li>Verify accurate documentation relative to specimen processing. </li><li>Accept or reject specimens according to established standards and perform specimen investigation procedures to resolve lab specimen issues or problems. </li><li>Prepare specimens for analysis. </li><li>Aliquot, transport and distribute specimens. </li><li>Aid in proper reagent and chemical solution preparation, labeling and storage. </li><li>Maintain instrumentation and equipment along with its cleanliness. </li><li>Perform preventive maintenance and record keeping procedures. </li><li>Maintain appropriate workstation supplies and inventory. </li><li>Maintain patient, specimen and tracking data using the laboratory computer system. </li></ul> <p>Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:</p> <ul> <li>High School Diploma with a focus on Chemical, Physical and Biological Sciences or Laboratory Science </li><li>Familiarity with medical terminology </li></ul> <p>Our caregivers continue to create the best outcomes for our patients across each of our facilities.
