Posting Number 20162794F Job Description</p> <p>First-Year Seminar courses, located within Learning Community Programs, are associated with new, transfer, and transitioning student academic needs. The various courses within LC Programs:</p> <p>1) Learning Community seminars (UC 1900), are designed to assist in the engagement of new students and serve as the central course for the learning community. The purpose of the seminar is to help students make a positive transition into the university by providing them with information regarding disciplinary norms, academic expectations of specific colleges and programs, and research and creative opportunities at Ohio University.</p> <p>2) Student Transition Seminars (UC 1500) are designed to assist students transitioning to a new experience/phase in their academic life.</p> <p>Instructors:</p> <p>1) serve as a role model, referral, and resource to students;</p> <p>2) provide contact information to students; communicating availability and encouraging students to contact them for assistance;</p> <p>3) In case of an emergency or planned absence, make arrangements for a substitute instructor;</p> <p>4) Provide a complete syllabus on the first meeting of class and grade assignments in a timely manner; and</p> <p>5)Submit final grades online by the university deadline.</p> <p>6)Participate in assessment processes to determine efficacy of the courses and course materials.</p> <p>Minimum Qualifications</p> <p>Bachelor's degree</p> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <p>Master's degree, and educational/work experience similar to focus of learning community assigned.</p> <p>Department University College, Dean's Office Pay Rate Job Open Date 04/01/2025 Posting Close Date</p> <p>Applications to this pool will be considered to fill part-time, non-tenure track, non-benefits eligible instructor positions as student demand dictates on the Athens campus.
