<p>Job Responsibilities</p> <p>We are seeking a dynamic and energetic individual to join Lander University as Director for the Center for Faculty Excellence.</p> <p>The ideal candidate will provide visionary leadership, strategic direction, and operational oversight to promote the professional development and academic success of our faculty members. The Director will collaborate with university constituencies (faculty, staff, and administration) to design and implement innovative pedagogies, enhance teaching, and support program and course development. We are looking for an individual who thrives in a collaborative environment and is dedicated to fostering an innovative and evidence-based culture of teaching and learning.</p> <p>Duties and Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Develop and implement a clear vision and strategic plan for the CFE that aligns with the university's mission, vision, and strategic priorities. </li><li>Communicate with academic leadership and collaborate across campus to identify and address faculty development needs and priorities related to teaching and learning, retention, persistence, and accessibility. </li><li>Create programs for all categories of faculty including new faculty, full-time tenure-track faculty and teaching professors, and part-time faculty. </li><li>Provide individual consultations, classroom observations, and feedback to faculty members seeking assistance with course design, instructional techniques, and student engagement strategies. </li><li>Assist faculty in redesigning courses and assignments by providing guidance on instructional design concepts, current pedagogical practices, and the integration of digital teaching and learning tools. </li><li>Encourage and support faculty engagement in the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL). </li><li>Stay current in best-practices for course design, pedagogical strategies, and emerging technologies and share knowledge and insights with faculty and colleagues. </li><li>Identify internal and external speakers and facilitators to offer timely and evidence-based programs and workshops. </li><li>Collaborate with the campus IT professionals to provide training and support for faculty on the major instructional technologies offered by the University, including the learning management system, Blackboard. </li><li>Support faculty writing across disciplines, including scholarly activity and grant writing. </li><li>Mentor the CFE Faculty Fellows. </li><li>Assist the VP of Academic Affairs on special projects. </li><li>Teach one or more courses in field of expertise per semester. </li></ul> <p>Minimum and Additional Requirements</p> <ul> <li>Terminal degree appropriate to discipline in which the candidate teaches. Appropriate credentials to teach in an existing Lander academic program. </li><li>A minimum of 5 years in higher education, with significant teaching experience as well as notable achievements in faculty development, teaching and learning advancement, and a strong background in the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL). </li><li>Demonstrated strategic leadership skills, including the ability to develop and articulate a strategic vision, build collaborative relationships, and lead change initiatives. </li><li>Experience designing and delivering faculty development programs in in-person, online, and blended formats </li><li>Experience with innovative pedagogy, such as the incorporation of AI into teaching, experiential learning, and effective use of LMS functionality in face-to-face, online, and hybrid courses. </li><li>Competency in assessing educational programs and utilizing data for continuous improvement. </li><li>Knowledge of pedagogical theories and practices that support effective teaching, including those related to active learning, course design, and experiential learning </li><li>Record of participation in national organizations focused on university teaching and faculty development. </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Have undergone tenure/promotion review and/or experience supporting faculty through those processes. </li><li>Qualifications consistent with the rank of Associate Professor at Lander. </li><li>Experience working in a higher education teaching and learning center in the role of faculty fellow, assistant, or associate director is preferred. </li></ul> <p>Additional Comments</p> <p>Hiring status will be a tenure-track faculty position on 12-month contract.</p> <p>Faculty rank, tenure status, and salary will depend on qualifications and experience.</p> <p>Electronic submission of materials is required.</p> <p>Candidates should provide</p> <p>1) a cover letter stating experience as it relates to the job qualifications</p> <p>2) a curriculum vitae</p> <p>3) contact information for three professional references, and 4) copies of unofficial transcripts.</p> <p>Review of applications will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled.
