As a global service provider, we continually seek talented individuals.</p> <p>Title: FGD Auxiliary Operator</p> <p>Position Type: Contract</p> <p>Contract Length: Up to 5 years</p> <p>Location: New Hampshire</p> <p>Reports to: Utility Manager</p> <p>Status: Non-Exempt</p> <p>Key Project Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>7+ years of experience in a coal plant, with FGD and/or wastewater treatment experience required. </li><li>Strong working knowledge of Flue Gas Desulfurization (FGD) scrubbers and associated ancillary systems. </li><li>Proficiency in troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation equipment. </li><li>Ability to interpret P&IDs, electrical one-lines, and technical manuals for system operations and troubleshooting. </li></ul> <p>Job Summary:</p> <p>PIC Group is seeking an experienced FGD Auxiliary Operator for a long-term contract (up to 5 years) at a 500MW Peaking Facility in Southern New Hampshire. Reporting to the Utility Manager, this role is responsible for the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of the FGD scrubber, water treatment facility, and plant equipment. The ideal candidate will have expertise in mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation systems, ensuring safe, efficient operations while maintaining regulatory compliance. This position supports both shift operations and maintenance teams, contributing to equipment reliability, outage planning, and continuous plant improvements.</p> <p>Essential Duties and Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Operate and maintain plant systems, including demineralizers, compressors, turbine components, and FGD scrubbers. </li><li>Perform routine inspections, troubleshoot issues, and ensure equipment is operating within required parameters. </li><li>Conduct preventive maintenance, including piping/conduit installation, lubrication, and equipment cleaning. </li><li>Monitor and record operational data (temperature, pressure, vibration, water chemistry, etc.) to verify proper system conditions. </li><li>Maintain facility appearance through general housekeeping and painting projects. </li><li>Manage plant inventory and coordinate purchasing with vendors to ensure timely equipment repairs. </li><li>Identify and resolve issues with Computerized Emissions Monitoring Systems (CEMS) and assist in calibrations and gas bottle change-outs. </li><li>Operate heavy equipment, including man lifts, forklifts, loaders, and skid steers. </li><li>Support outage planning, scheduling, and capital projects as assigned. </li><li>Perform water chemistry analysis on boiler and cooling systems, adjusting as needed to maintain proper chemical balance. </li><li>Utilize the CMMS system for maintenance tracking and reporting. </li><li>Assist in training programs, root cause analysis, and development of operational procedures. </li><li>Follow all regulatory, safety, and environmental compliance procedures. </li><li>Other duties as assigned, including cross-functional support as needed. </li></ul> <p>Job Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>Strong knowledge of power plant operations, including Flue Gas Desulfurization (FGD) scrubbers and related systems. </li><li>Ability to make critical decisions in emergencies and effectively troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation issues. </li><li>Proficient in reading and interpreting P&IDs, electrical one-lines, logic drawings, and technical manuals. </li><li>Skilled in repairing, replacing, and maintaining plant equipment (pumps, valves, fans, gearboxes, demineralizers, compressors, turbines). </li><li>Capable of writing operating procedures, work requests, and reports, with strong verbal and written communication skills. </li><li>Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) and water chemistry analysis. </li><li>Experience with welding, cutting, and metal fabrication, as well as operating drill presses, pipe threading machines, and grinders. </li></ul> <p>Physical Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. </li><li>Ability to obtain physical clearance to wear a respirator. </li><li>Ability to sit, stand, bend (forward and backward) consistently and for potentially extended periods of time (up to 12 hours per day). </li><li>Sufficient depth perception, close, distance, color, and peripheral vision to effectively discharge the responsibilities of the role (corrective lenses permitted) </li><li>Periodic exposure to outdoor elements. </li></ul> <p>Education / Experience:</p> <ul> <li>High School diploma or equivalent required. </li><li>Associates Degree (AA) or equivalent from a two-year college to technical school preferred. </li><li>7+ years of previous experience in a coal plant, with FGD experience and/or waste water experience is required. </li><li>Mechanical, instrumentation and electrical equipment knowledge is required. </li></ul> <p>PIC Group, Inc. is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
