<p>Requisition Number F02735 Department Exploratory Studies & Student Development faculty Working Title Temporary, Part-Time FYEX 100 Instructor Classification Instructor - 24900</p> <p>Position Summary Information</p> <p>Nature of position Temporary, part-time</p> <p>Posting Detail Information</p> <p>Job Summary/Basic Function</p> <p>Millersville University's Exploratory Studies and Student Development Department is accepting applications for a Temporary, Part-Time Instructor responsible for teaching up to two sections of FYEX 100 to incoming students in the Exploratory Studies Program.</p> <p>FYEX 100 is a three-credit seminar at Millersville University that helps first-year students transition to college life. The course is designed to help students develop skills that will help them succeed in college, career, and personal life.</p> <p>FYEX Course Format:</p> <p>Each FYEX seminar focuses on a different topic or theme. The seminars use at least one high-impact educational practice to help students develop skills that will lead to success in college.</p> <p>Teach face-to-face classes days or evenings as scheduled.</p> <p>In addition to teaching, there is an expectation for scholarship and service commensurate with the assignment.</p> <p>A complete application will include:</p> <ul> <li>Cover letter describing qualifications for the position and teaching philosophy. </li><li>Current curriculum vitae or professional resume. </li><li>Copies of registrar-issued transcripts for all degrees conferred and in progress. </li><li>Two letters of professional reference dated within the last 12 months. </li></ul> <p>Incomplete applications will not be considered. Up to two courses for fall semester. Teaching will be done in traditional face-to-face classroom setting. Part-time faculty members shall maintain a prorated number of office hours each week, at a minimum of twenty-five (25) minutes for each workload hour taught, at such days, times and locations as will accommodate the needs of the students.</p> <p>This position requires in-person instruction on Millersville University's campus. This position is contingent upon sufficient enrollments in assigned classes.</p> <p>For details, please see:</p> <ul> <li>The CBA, Article 12.B.1, Effective teaching and fulfillment of professional responsibilities (p. 27). </li></ul> <p>CONTINUING SCHOLARLY GROWTH AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT and SERVICE TO THE UNIVERSITY AND/OR COMMUNITY:</p> <ul> <li>In addition to teaching, there is an expectation for scholarship and service commensurate with the assignment. </li></ul> <p>OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <ul> <li>Other reasonable duties assigned within the faculty member's field of competence. </li></ul> <p>PERFORMANCE REVIEW / EVALUATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Please see the CBA, Article 12, Performance Review and Evaluation of Faculty (pp. 27-39). </li></ul> <p>DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION:</p> <p>The Exploratory Program is intended for students who are unsure which major they want to pursue or may have narrowed down their options to a few possibilities but have not yet decided on a major.</p> <p>Our mission here at Millersville University is to encourage students to graduate on time while giving them the opportunity to explore a variety of interests to match your passion and skills with a major. We have the resources to help you do just that; they keep you on track and keep you motivated while satisfying your curiosity. Even though you may start as a first-year student unsure of what direction you may want to go, you will still be working toward your degree requirements while exploring your options.</p> <p>The program gives you flexibility to change direction if necessary.
