<p>Financial Database Analyst</p> <p>SummaCare - 1200 E Market St, Akron, OH</p> <p>Full-Time / 40 Hours / Days</p> <p>Hybrid</p> <p>SummaCare is a Summa Health entity that offers health insurance in northern Ohio. Employees can expect competitive pay and benefits.</p> <p>Summary:</p> <p>Assists with development activities of custom applications, including relational and summary databases, data acquisition/extraction methods, and data reporting pertaining to support Finance functions. Provides project analysis, research and issue resolution on programming based projects and system request.</p> <p>Formal Education Required:</p> <p>a. Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.</p> <p>Experience & Training Required:</p> <p>a. Four (4) years experience to include the following: combination of Medical underwriting models and Business analytics: Data Mining, Statistical Reporting, or Data Analysis</p> <p>b. Experience with general relational data base design</p> <p>c. Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Access, including Table/Query/Macro/Forms Design</p> <p>d. MS SQL Server applications, SQL, Query Analyzer, Enterprise Manager/Reporting Services, Power BI</p> <p>e. Experience with running ad hoc queries and analytics in SQL, Microsoft Access, Power Pivot</p> <p>f. EDI (electronic interchange of business information) - reading and understanding Specification Guides, elements and qualifiers, to assist with troubleshooting/error handling etc. of the variety of HIPAA EDI Transactions;</p> <p>g. Quality assurance testing</p> <p>h. Documentation skills including entry to intermediate level experience with other Microsoft Office Products including Word, Excel and PowerPoint</p> <p>Essential Functions:</p> <ol> <li> <p>Supports internal departments and external clients/vendors with data reporting based on regulations including CMS and ODI.</p> </li><li> <p>Assists and reviews underwriting rating engines including Small Group, Large Group, Individual PPO and Renewals.</p> </li><li> <p>Performs various product line, plan specific and group level analyses in regards to premiums and medical costs.</p> </li><li> <p>Runs and maintains regular weekly/monthly/quarterly reporting to the company and system.</p> </li><li> <p>Collects, analyzes and interprets numerical underwriting and pricing data to facilitate management decision making.</p> </li><li> <p>Supports existing or implements new business strategies.</p> </li><li> <p>Implements and completes various special projects/tasks as assigned.</p> </li><li> <p>Performs all job functions with integrity. Provides timely internal and external customer service in cooperative, professional, and respectful manner.</p> </li></ol> <p>Maintain current knowledge of database management concepts, techniques and principles.</p> <p>Other Skills, Competencies and Qualifications:</p> <p>a. Maintain current knowledge of financial analysis concepts, techniques and principles.</p> <p>b. Understands business process and effectively translate business needs into appropriate data solutions.</p> <p>c. Possess ability to work independently, not requiring significant direction</p> <p>d. Apply principles of logical thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.</p> <p>e. Communicate complex information verbally and in written form that may include policies and procedures, financial, legal, and/or technical documents, and opinion papers. Ability to provide guidance required to implement strategic programs and projects.</p> <p>f. Design, develop, and implement complex policies, procedures, programs, technical systems that may affect more than one department. Proofreading completed work to find and correct errors.</p> <p>g. Perform ad hoc analyses on a regular basis, assist in special projects to support recurring reporting for leadership and identify opportunities for process improvements throughout the organization</p> <p>h. Demonstrate strong analytical ability and attention to detail, and accurately work with large amounts of data.</p> <p>i. Organize and manage time to accurately complete tasks within designated time frames in fast-paced environment.</p> <p>j. Maintain current knowledge of and comply with regulatory and company policies & procedures.</p> <p>k. Maintain confidentiality of patient and business information.</p> <p>l. Present data and analysis in a clear and concise manner, allowing the audience to quickly understand insights and recommendations.</p> <p>m. Assist with development and database maintenance. Maintain variety of data integrity techniques to support accuracy in presenting and publishing reports.</p> <p>n. Assist in development and maintenance of standard reports for ongoing internal and external customer needs</p> <p>Level of Physical Demands:</p> <p>a. Sit for prolonged periods of time.</p> <p>b. Many factors, such as years of relevant experience and geographical location are considered when determining the starting rate of pay. Please keep in mind that the range that is listed is the full base salary range. Hiring at the maximum of the range would not be typical.</p>
