<p>Description Handyperson Building-Housing and Transportation Administration-Mount Sinai West To perform minor repairs to appliances, fixtures, and building systems Responsibilities Makes minor repairs to appliances, fixtures and building systems Reviews work assignments and designated time schedules and asks supervisor for clarification if necessary Makes minor electrical, plumbing, carpentry and locksmith repairs as directed Provides timely explanation when unavoidable delays are encountered Keeps supervisor advised of activities and any problems or potential problems Identifies potential safety hazards or problems in work areas. Takes appropriate measures to ensure the safety of self and others in work areas Communicates information concerning unsafe conditions to supervisor Maintains tools and equipment. Cleans and oils tools to ensure they remain in proper working order Arranges and stores tools properly to ensure safety Consults with supervisor on matters of uncertainty Demonstrates good judgment by following verbal and written instructions carefully Advises supervisor of problems requiring follow up attention Maintains work area in a neat and orderly manner Completes assignments within allocated time frames Seeks additional assignments when work is completed Interacts and communicates ideas, problems, suggestions, and messages in a timely and effective manner Ensures that records of completed jobs and relevant paperwork are forwarded to the department of Real Estate at the conclusion of each day Ensures that records are maintained up to date for all supplies ordered and received including: price quotes, dates ordered and dates received and maintains a list of vendors Qualifications Requirements: High school graduate or GED . 3-5 years janitorial experience in a residential or commercial building required.
