<p>Position Summary:</p> <p>Seeking a motivated intern to assist with our purchasing needs. The ideal candidate will be an engineering or supply chain major eager to learn and contribute. Key responsibilities include supporting analytics and purchasing decisions, assisting with New Product Development (NPD) needs, and acting as a liaison with the NPD team. This role offers exposure to various supply chain activities and the opportunity to work closely with the product engineering department under the mentorship of a senior engineer and Supply Chain Manager.</p> <p>Principle Duties (includes, but is not limited to):</p> <ul> <li>Optimize supply chain processes by analyzing data and implementing improvements. </li><li>Develop and maintain relationships with vendors to ensure quality and cost-effectiveness. </li><li>Conduct VAVE (Value Add Value Engineering) activities to reduce supply chain costs. </li><li>Create and update documentation for supply chain processes and procedures. </li><li>Evaluate and improve logistics and distribution strategies for efficiency and cost reduction. </li><li>Develop and document procurement processes for new product introductions. </li><li>Analyze and summarize supply chain data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement. </li><li>Problem solving - Resolve supply chain issues by investigating problems, identifying solutions, recommending actions, and implementing changes. </li><li>Investigate and document options for supply chain alternatives to reduce costs and improve efficiency. </li></ul> <p>Essential Qualifications/Experience:</p> <ul> <li>Sophomore level standing or higher in engineering course work leading to a Mechanical, Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering or Supply Chain or Sciences field of Study from an accredited 4-year College or University. </li><li>Ability to perform assigned tasks and complete work on schedule with minimal supervision. </li><li>Eagerness to learn and accept challenges. </li><li>Critical problem-solving skills and strong attention to detail required. </li><li>Ability to work in a fast-paced, changing environment and must be willing to work directly in the engineering laboratory and production floor. </li><li>Excellent verbal and written communication skills; Effective interpersonal skills in a team environment </li><li>Must be project-oriented and able to multi-task. </li><li>Ability to work 40 hours per week during internship commitment. </li><li>Working knowledge of computer programs (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Power BI, Teams) </li><li>Experience with CAD systems and SolidWorks </li></ul> <p>Crane Co. reserves the right to change or assign other duties to this position.
