We aim to lead the markets we serve by requiring the solutions we offer customers provide an improved benefit/risk profile as compared to existing standards of care; a performance threshold that, guides and ensures the productive output of our engineering, business development, and clinical research efforts result in outcomes that advance the standard of care.</p> <p>WHAT YOU'LL DO</p> <p>This position works out of our Westfield, IN location in the Structural Heart division. Our business purpose is to restore health and improve quality of life through the design and provision of device and management solutions for the treatment of structural heart disease.</p> <p>As the Manufacturing Engineer II (First Shift), you will develop and implement optimal, cost-effective manufacturing processes and methods in accordance with product specifications and quality standards; recommends and implements improvements to production processes, methods and controls; is also responsible for the activities related to installation and validation of production lines as well as the lifecycle management of equipment's.</p> <ul> <li>Assures that production lines output meets the specifications of the product. Has clear criteria of conforming/ non-conforming product and the test methods used for verifying conformance. </li><li>Daily support to the manufacturing activities in order to meet established goals for safety, quality, cost and production. </li><li>Maintains systems that support the monitoring of key performance indicators such as yield, nonconforming material or lead-time. If indicators show an adverse trend, works with the functional team to plan and implement appropriate changes. </li><li>Prepares product and process reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends. </li><li>Uses basic statistic tools. </li><li>Keeps equipment operational by coordinating calibration, maintenance and repair services; following manufacturer's instructions and established procedures; requesting special service when needed. </li><li>Identifies, selects, and purchases equipment/fixtures according to production requirements, due to obsolescence, redundancy or line capacity expansion. </li><li>Maintains manufacturing systems such as SAP routers and BOM's current. </li><li>Learns to identify Manufacturing process defects (scrap, nonconforming material, customer complaints) by dispositioning non-conforming material, assisting in identification of primary root causes and understanding corrective and preventative actions. </li><li>May be responsible for working with process owner to bound product stops and document release criteria. </li><li>Gains understanding of product quality plans, documents and systems by reviewing product specifications, quality specifications, and working with quality systems. </li><li>May be responsible for learning risk analyses and FMEAs. </li><li>Learns Process Monitoring Systems by becoming familiar with systems applications and critical process steps. and through familiarization with methods used to reduce process variation. </li><li>Becomes familiar with Product/Process improvement efforts by understanding current quality metric data and learning the various analysis methods used to enhance sustaining product design and new product development. </li><li>Begins developing a network of internal resources to facilitate completion of tasks. </li><li>Individual influence is typically exerted at the peer level. </li><li>Completes daily work to meet established schedule with guidance from supervisor on prioritization of tasks. </li><li>Will perform this job in a quality system environment. Failure to adequately perform tasks can result in noncompliance with governmental regulations. </li><li>Ability to travel approximately 20%. </li></ul> <p>EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE, YOU'LL BRING</p> <p>REQUIRED</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's Degree in related field </li><li>2-5 years related work experience </li><li>Ability to work in a highly matrixed and geographically diverse business environment. </li><li>Ability to work within a team and as an individual contributor in a fast-paced, changing environment. </li><li>Ability to leverage and/or engage others to accomplish projects. </li><li>Strong verbal and written communications with ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels in the organization. </li><li>Multitasks, prioritizes, and meets deadlines in timely manner. </li><li>Strong organizational and follow-up skills, as well as attention to detail. </li><li>Ability to travel approximately 5%. </li></ul> <p>PREFERRED.</p> <ul> <li>Production ramp up experience. </li><li>Experience designing and testing medical devices preferred. </li><li>Experience developing manufacturing processes and technologies and designing for manufacturability preferred </li></ul> <p>WHAT WE OFFER</p> <p>At Abbott, you can have a good job that can grow into a great career. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.</p>
