Building on Purdue University's mission to provide greater access to affordable, high-</p> <p>quality education, Purdue University Global is a public, nonprofit institution offering a world-class</p> <p>education online.</p> <p>Job Summary:</p> <p>The Academic Program Chair supports the Master of Science in Nursing program. The</p> <p>Program Chair supervises full and part-time faculty in assigned courses, and ensures their</p> <p>involvement in providing course feedback and participation in professional development and in-</p> <p>service activities. The Program Chair will stay informed on program metrics and initiate</p> <p>proactive measures to improve.</p> <p>This role will effectively implement appropriate teaching strategies that assist students in</p> <p>achieving their academic potential while providing excellent customer service to all internal and</p> <p>external customers. This position will participate in university census growth and development</p> <p>activities and initiatives. Additionally, the Program Chair will work with the Associate Dean and</p> <p>fellow MSN Program Chairs on curriculum development, projects, and other duties as assigned.</p> <p>What to expect in this role:</p> <p>Faculty Supervision & Development:</p> <p>? Directly supervises full-time faculty and part-time adjuncts including interviewing, hiring</p> <p>and training; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding</p> <p>and disciplining; addressing complaints and resolving programs.</p> <p>? Oversees the development and evaluation of faculty. Reviews faculty performance to</p> <p>ensure maintenance of the classroom standards. Metrics will be faculty compliance with</p> <p>or deviance from those standards.</p> <p>? Makes recommendations to the Academic Department Chair and Associate Dean as</p> <p>appropriate related to hiring, evaluation, and retention of faculty in assigned courses.</p> <p>Metrics include percentage of faculty with terminal degrees, student end of term survey</p> <p>results and GPA distribution in sections and courses.</p> <p>? Contributes to the overall success of the University as a whole. Assessment will include</p> <p>positive working relationships with peers and external departments.</p> <p>? Oversee student academic progress, success, and concerns; meets with students and</p> <p>faculty.</p> <p>? Partner with the Scheduling Manager for the scheduling of classes and assignment of</p> <p>faculty to the schedule.</p> <p>Program Development & Oversight:</p> <p>? Participate in curriculum development, evaluation and revision with the Academic</p> <p>Department Chair and the Assistant Dean of Curriculum.</p> <p>? Review University assessment data for the program, including course level assessment,</p> <p>general education literacies, student and faculty evaluations, employer and graduate</p> <p>surveys; make recommendations for curriculum and other improvements based on data</p> <p>review.</p> <p>? Participate in University curriculum development and revision activities. Solicit and post</p> <p>feedback related to the PG curriculum.</p> <p>? Remain current with trends, techniques, and advances in distance learning and graphic</p> <p>arts that are applicable to the program.</p> <p>? Maintain current knowledge of accreditation standards, as applicable. Take ownership</p> <p>for all activities related to maintaining good standing with accreditation agencies.</p> <p>? Assess program resources and request resources to address gaps.</p> <p>Engagement & Professional Development:</p> <p>? Regularly attend and participate in faculty meetings and committees.</p> <p>? Participate regularly in professional development activities such as inservice, continuing</p> <p>education, conference and community presentations, research and publication, internal</p> <p>training and collegial opportunities.</p> <p>Experience:</p> <p>? Required:</p> <p>? Doctoral Degree (DNP or PhD) in Nursing and MSN required, from regionally accredited institutions.</p> <p>? Active unencumbered RN license and APRN license required in one of the following specialties: PMHNP required</p> <p>? A minimum of 2 years experience in postsecondary nursing education required.</p> <p>? Preferred:</p> <p>? Two to five years experience in graduate nursing education preferred. </p> <p>? Experience teaching and supervising faculty preferred.</p> <p>? Curriculum experience preferred. </p> <p>? Certification as a Certified Nurse Educator (CNE) to be obtained within 12 months of</p> <p>hire. Possesses required knowledge of best practice in higher education pedagogy.</p> <p>What we're looking for:</p> <p>? Demonstrated proficiency with MS Office suite software, such as MS Word, Excel and</p> <p>Powerpoint, as well as Google applications such as Gmail, Chat and Hangout.</p> <p>? Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.</p> <p>? Demonstrated leadership with a proven ability to train, supervise, motivate, and evaluate</p> <p>employees/staff/faculty.</p> <p>? Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, balance competing demands for</p> <p>time, and prioritize workload to meet deadlines.</p> <p>? Effective analytical skills with the ability to assess situations, resolve issues or make</p> <p>recommendations as appropriate.</p> <p>? Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively communicate with a professional</p> <p>demeanor with people at all levels within the organization and from diverse</p> <p>backgrounds.</p> <p>? Ability to work in a multicultural environment across diverse teams, departments, and Schools.</p> <p>Additional Information:</p> <p>?
