<p>Job Description:</p> <p>The Residence Area Security Monitor (RASM) reports directly to the Residence Director/Area Coordinator. The RASM will be responsible for staffing a front desk of one of the Residence Areas between the hours of 8:00am-12:00am. They assist in responding to residents and guests questions, needs and aid in the safety/security of the Residence Area. In addition, the RASM will be responsible for tracking the flow of traffic in and out of the building during their assigned shift, as well as signing all guests/non-residents into the Residence Area.</p> <p>Position Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Provide front line security for the residence halls to ensure the safety and security of the residents and residence area. </li><li>Greet and assist students, staff, and visitors in a friendly and attentive manner. </li><li>Be aware of surroundings, address and report any areas of concern in a timely and efficient manner to the appropriate Residence Life staff. </li><li>Familiarize self with all of the Residence Life & University policies and emergency procedures. </li><li>Confront and report inappropriate behavior observed within the residence hall. </li><li>Monitor all traffic coming in and going out of the building. This includes checking identification of individuals who enter the residence halls and managing guest visitation in the building. </li><li>Establish and maintain positive working relationships and open communication with the Resident Directors, Area Coordinators, Resident Assistants, Facilities Staff and Campus Police. </li><li>Must remain at the desk at all times during scheduled shift unless otherwise directed by the Supervisor and/or Director on Duty, or emergency personnel. Visitors are not allowed while employee is on a scheduled shift. </li></ul> <p>Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>Must be a matriculated MCLA student and maintain this status throughout the time of employment. </li><li>Must be a resident student during the time of employment. </li><li>Must have a current cumulate GPA of 2.3 or higher at time of application and throughout employment. </li><li>Be in good standing with the Dean of Students Office. </li><li>Must be available to work during the hours of 8:00am-12:00am with weekday and weekend availability. </li><li>If applicable, have a good past work performance working for Residence Life & Housing. </li><li>Must demonstrate good communication, writing, organization, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills. </li><li>Must be able to work during College breaks (i.e. Thanksgiving and Spring Break) and on long weekends (i.e. - Columbus Day Weekend and Patriot's Day). </li><li>Must follow all Residence Life & College Community Guidelines. Violation of a policy could result in dismal from the position. </li><li>Must attend monthly staff meeting with supervisor. </li><li>Must attend mandatory training program prior to start of work. </li><li>All RASMs are required to participate in an employment review on a semester basis. </li></ul> <p>Additional Information:</p> <ul> <li>RASMs (8am-12am) will be paid at a rate of $15/hr. bi-weekly.
