<p>Employment to begin as of: 2025-2026 School Year</p> <p>Position Title: Middle School Social Studies Teacher</p> <p>Grade Level: 6-8</p> <p>Teaching Certificate Required: Secondary Social Studies</p> <p>Previous Teaching Experience Required: None</p> <p>General Description of Position Duties:</p> <ul> <li>Hold a valid state teaching certification in social studies. </li><li>Possess experience teaching or coaching middle school students, ideally in a social studies environment. </li><li>Have a deep understanding of middle school social studies standards. </li><li>Demonstrably passionate middle school students and curriculum. </li><li>Are a creative and resourceful educator with a knack for connecting with middle school aged students. </li><li>Possess excellent communication, collaboration, and classroom management skills. </li></ul> <p>Special Skills, Training or Aptitudes Required or Desire: Design and deliver dynamic lessons that engage students in the discovery of social studies concepts. Able to work with a group of teachers in a team concept. Have good organization skills and be adaptable to new situations.</p> <p>Physical and Mental Efforts:</p> <ul> <li>This position requires a high level of physical and mental endurance. </li><li>Sitting in an office/classroom environment, performing tasks on a computer or other technical devices. </li><li>Frequent standing, particularly for sustained periods of time. </li><li>Frequent walking, moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one part of the building to another. </li><li>Constantly talking, expressing, or exchanging ideas to colleagues and/or students accurately, loudly, or quickly. </li><li>Ability to hear and listen to detailed information through oral communication. </li><li>Occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. </li><li>Specific vision abilities required include close vision and distance vision. </li><li>Ability to handle and balance multiple demands at the same time. </li><li>The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
