<p>Division/Unit: Community Partnerships Unit</p> <p>Civil Service Title: Community Associate</p> <p>Position Title: Youth Program Coordinator</p> <p>Salary Range: $53,615 - $53,615</p> <p>Job Description:</p> <p>The New York County District Attorney's Office (DANY) has an opening in its Community Partnerships Unit (CPU) for a Youth Program Coordinator. The mission of CPU is to advance DANY's goal to serve and protect the people of Manhattan by fostering trust between the community and law enforcement, increasing access to office resources, raising awareness of crime issues, and creating partnerships that prevent crime and enhance public safety. CPU seeks to include younger communities in their engagement efforts and prevention programs. In this role the Program Coordinator, with guidance from the Supervisor of Youth and Education Programs, is responsible for coordinating the CPU's youth programs and educational initiatives.</p> <p>Responsibilities include but are not limited to:</p> <ul> <li>Develop and maintain relationships with community-based and government agencies focused on youth programs </li><li>Plan and implement DANY youth programs including but not limited to High School Summer Internship, Youth Ambassador Program, Gun Violence Prevention Program, Resume Workshops, Shadow Days, Court Tours, and Mock Trials </li><li>Ensure community presentations and conversations with youth are created and implemented in a impactful way, utilizing youth input </li><li>Coordinate with Assistant District Attorneys (ADAs) and other DANY professionals to ensure participation in youth outreach events and programs </li><li>Schedule and ensure high quality tours, events, and presentations. </li><li>Track and report on outcomes </li><li>Represent DANY at community events </li><li>Perform other job-related duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>In addition to the Minimum Qualification Requirements, candidates must possess the following:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree from an accredited college. </li></ul> <p>Preferred Requirements/Skill:</p> <ul> <li>Superior organizational and communication skills. </li><li>Superior interpersonal and project management skills. </li><li>Creative problem-solving abilities. </li><li>Resourcefulness, initiative, and good judgment. </li><li>Experience facilitating discussions with community members of varying ages. </li><li>Knowledge of the Department of Education landscape in New York County. </li><li>Strong public speaking and presentation skills. </li><li>Experience using Excel to manage data. </li><li>Strong desire to promote education and understanding of the criminal justice system. </li><li>Experience working with youth, elderly, and/or LGBTQ communities. </li><li>Working knowledge of the New York City criminal justice system. </li><li>Fluency in Spanish or Mandarin. </li></ul> <p>How to Apply:</p> <ul> <li>Apply with a Cover Letter, Resume, Writing Sample, and Transcript. </li></ul> <p>Hours/Shift:</p> <ul> <li>Monday - Friday from 9 am - 5 pm, with some evening and weekend hours. </li></ul> <p>Additional Information:</p> <ul> <li>Current office employees: To be eligible for a transfer or promotion, staff must have already served at least one (1) year in their current unit/bureau/department and be in good standing. In addition, must meet the minimum and additional qualifications of the position. </li><li>Authorization to work in the United States is required for this position. </li></ul> <p>Minimum Qualification Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>High school graduation or equivalent and three years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to duties described above; or </li><li>Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" above. </li></ul> <p>Public Svc Loan Forgiveness:</p> <ul> <li>As a prospective employee of the City of New York, you may be eligible for federal loan forgiveness programs and state repayment assistance programs.
