<p>Job Summary: A Heavy Equipment Mechanic assists with and performs the hands-on aspect of preventative maintenance and repairs of gas and diesel engines. Persons in these roles will possess a working knowledge of the types of heavy equipment used within their industry and are prepared to make repairs to all types of equipment and vehicles. These machines may include, but are not limited to: bulldozers, motor graders, front-end loaders, backhoes, paving machines, rollers, broom tractors, transfer vehicles, track hoes, off-road dump trucks, and other vehicles as needed.</p> <p>Job Duties and Responsibilities: Heavy Equipment Mechanics will be responsible for maintaining records of service and repair work on all trucks and equipment, as well as performing unexpected mechanical tasks as needed to minimize disruption of business. They are also expected to order repair and maintenance parts, stock items, and keep inventory records as needed. These mechanics will be able to identify and overcome issues that arise from mechanical failures, communication breakdowns, availability issues regarding repair parts and tools, and safety concerns as it relates to the fleet. Heavy Equipment Mechanics would be expected to assist with facility and grounds maintenance as needed and balance multiple priorities and work effectively in a team environment. They may also travel to perform repairs and inspections on our job sites and may perform any other duty or assignment as may be required from time to time by their foreman.</p> <p>Essential Skills and Abilities:</p> <ul> <li>Must be a dependable person who supports the entire company's operations by maintain the truck and equipment fleet. </li><li>Person must have above average knowledge of the mechanics of vehicles and equipment. </li><li>Perform routine maintenance and ensure any needed repairs are made. </li><li>Proactively remove and minimize potential hazards as they are discovered. </li><li>Ensure adherence to safe work practices. </li><li>Report complex mechanical problems for shop repairs. </li><li>Possess strong interpersonal and communication skills </li><li>Understand, follow, and communicate oral and written instructions clearly and concisely. </li><li>Have the ability to work well with others (AKA Team Player). </li><li>Follow directives and meet deadlines. </li><li>Always be prepared and willing to meet each challenge directly. </li><li>Work independently in the absence of supervision. </li><li>Have moderate computer skills </li></ul>
