<p>Supervises, plans, schedules & reviews work of assigned staff (e.g., Psychiatric/DD Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses) & coordinates delivery of nursing & psychiatric care to individual on 2nd & 3rd shift; responsible for quality, availability & delivery of psychiatric nursing services to individuals (e.g., coordinates staffing schedules, monitors performance of employees); assists Psychiatric/DD Nurse Director in maintaining Nursing Standards by planning & implementing Nursing Policies & Procedures (e.g., Gastrostomy Feeding, Seizure Care & Observation, Medication Administration); completes & signs performance evaluations (Psychiatric/DD Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses); authorizes overtime & serves as liaison between nursing/medical services & other disciplines; approves/disapproves leave requests; investigates & responds to employee grievances; disciplines assigned staff as needed (e.g., investigates & prepares documentation, counsels employees & makes recommendations for corrective action); Develops, schedules & monitors in-service training programs (e.g., Infection Control, Signs & Symptoms of Illness, Hygiene); provides orientation for Psychiatric/DD Nurses, LPN's & TPW's; serves on committees (e.g., Nursing Quality Assurance, Human Rights); serves as interdisciplinary team member; conducts staff meetings with Psychiatric/DD nurses, LPN's & TPW's; attends team meetings; performs other related duties (e.g., submits reports as requested by Psychiatric/DD Nurse Director; attends workshops, seminars, meetings & in-services [Fire Safety, First Aid, CPR]). Provides professional nursing care to individuals as needed; confers with physician regarding patient care & responds to emergencies; Monitors health & safety status of individuals & employees; reports (verbally & in writing) any unusual behaviors, conditions & safety hazards to physician, Psychiatric/DD Nurse Director & other appropriate personnel; delegates responsibility for implementing physician's orders & maintaining individuals' medical records in accordance with facility's policies & procedures; provides professional nursing judgment & intervention as necessary; is responsible for pharmacy drug cabinet in the absence of a Registered Pharmacist. Organizes medical records, files, and reports; responds to internal/external medical questions in area of expertise; assists with facility tours; provides information to nursing students; assists with special events as needed (e.g. fall festival, health fair); completes other duties as assigned.</p> <p>Requires current license as registered professional nurse in state of Ohio as issued by Board of Nursing per Section 4723.03 of Revised Code; 24 mos. exp. in psychiatric nursing or delivery of nursing services to persons with developmental disabilities; 3 mos. trg. or 3 mos. exp. in employee training & development; 3 courses or 9 mos. exp. in public relations; 3 courses or 9 mos. exp. in counseling.</p> <ul> <li>Or equivalent of the Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above may be substituted for the experience requirements, but not for the mandated licensure. </li></ul> <p>Job Skills: Nursing</p>
